The primary purpose of the In-Home Care (IHC) Allied Health Lead is to supervise, mentor and lead the development and Growth of a designated group of Occupational Therapy, Diversional Therapy, Podiatry, Physiotherapy and Allied Health Assistant staff within the Direct Care division of IHC, as well as providing expert delivery of professional services to a reduced consumer base.
The IHC Allied Health Lead works proactively with IHC Allied Health staff and other IHC teams across Baptcare at the point of service delivery. Key aspects of the role include the day-to-day leadership and supervision of Allied Health staff, supporting intake of new customers, provide an initial response to support complex needs, support staff development and customer outcomes. The consumer base includes both government funded service provision as well as private services.
Key Duties
- Operate in accordance with Baptcare’ s Vision, Mission, and Values, working with the Allied Health Manager to contribute the organisational strategic operational goals.
- Promote a culture of infection control and safety.
- Ensure that scope of practice is compliant with regulatory guidelines and Baptcare policy and procedures.
- Manage independent caseload (KPI dependent upon number of direct reports). Complete assessment, care plan and evaluation of consumer care needs, including identification of need for reassessment.
- Identification and follow up of referral to other health professionals as required.
- Review program ability to accept new referrals and support admission of new consumers.
- Lead and develop team members to deliver for all consumers safe and effective services and supports for daily living that meet the consumer's needs, goals and preferences and optimises their independence, health, wellbeing and quality of life.
- Provide mentoring and support to staff in all matters relating to the correct and safe completion of their duties in the community; this includes consulting on complex needs.
- Conduct annual performance development reviews for Allied Health staff.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
- Demonstrated competence in all aspects of designated Allied Health profession.
- Competent in all aspects of relevant allied health profession including initial admission, assessment, care planning & ongoing evaluation in a community setting.
- Experience building a high performing team (including succession planning), preferably in the supervision of staff within the Community Aged Care sector.
- Ability to apply various strategies to engage with, and influence, key stakeholders to achieve operational goals and targets.
- Capacity to manage and escalate issues where risks are identified.
- Ability to continuously improve service quality and consumer experience.
- Proven ability to manage budgets.
- The proven ability to model and coach staff on safe and effective services and supports for daily living that meet the consumer needs, goals and preferences and optimises their independence, health, well-being, and quality of life.
