The Position

The Integrated Family Services Program is funded by the Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) and is implemented by Baptcare in the Western Metropolitan and Brimbank/Melton areas. The evidence-informed program provides a child-focused and family-centred service, through high quality and effective case management and in-home support to vulnerable families in need.

The Integrated Family Services Program aims to promote safety, stability and development and build capacity through undertaking assessments of the needs of children, young people, and their family and developing Child and Family Action plans by partnering with the family and other services to provide an integrated service within the Best Interests Case Practice Framework.

The Integrated Family Services Practitioner provides case management and support to children and their families who are experiencing multiple difficulties such as parenting challenges, family violence and mental health issues. The Integrated Family Services Practitioner works alongside the family to increase parenting capacity, address identified needs, increase safety and wellbeing, as well as promoting sustainable change that achieves positive social, emotional, educational and health outcomes for children and their families.

The role reports to the Integrated Family Services Team Leader.

About You

Have experience in working with families with complex needs and demonstrate the ability to provide case management to vulnerable individuals and/or their families.

 

  • You demonstrate evidence informed knowledge and understanding of child development, trauma, family, and child/risk assessment skills.
  • You demonstrate commitment to the special needs of children, vulnerable people, and people with a disability; people from a culturally or linguistically diverse background; and/or Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills
  • You demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong, credible relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • You can plan and facilitate group programs to vulnerable children, young people, and families.
  • Excellent skills in organisation, time management and a demonstrated level of self-awareness and resilience with the ability to manage multiple demands and prioritise.
  • Strong computer skills and use of full suite of Microsoft office.


Qualifications and Experience

Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent (essential)

Minimum of two years’ experience post qualification working with children and families

Current Police Check (national and international if relevant)

Current Working with Children Check

Victorian Driver's License
