About the role
selectability is seeking a dynamic and experienced acting general manager for leave coverage to oversee our child and family care team. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for delivering high-quality services that support children and families in our community.
The ideal candidate for the general manager child and family care, will be adaptable and ready to step into the role as needed over the next six months to cover leave periods. At this stage there is no significant periods of leave planned to be covered however due to the delegations held by this role, RDOs and shorter periods of leave require that there is a suitable person appointed to effectively backfill the role, even at short notice. They will be entrusted with full delegation responsibilities and have the authority to provide final approvals for placements.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- supporting existing child and family care services to ensure uninterrupted delivery
- maintaining strategic direction, ensuring ongoing alignment with organisational goals
- providing leadership and guidance to teams, fostering stability and engagement
- liaising with stakeholders to ensure continued collaboration and service quality
- upholding compliance and best practices, ensuring smooth operational transitions
About you
To be successful you must:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Behavioural Science or hold/studying an approved qualification that meets the Strengthening the Queensland Residential Care Workforce minimum qualifications (mandatory)
- minimum of five years’ experience in a senior leadership or management position in child and family care services (highly desirable)
- possess an extensive understanding of the child protection industry and the requirements of the Child Protection Act 1999 and Child Safety Regulation
- excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- strong ability to interpret complex information and relay that information to relevant stakeholders
Role Requirements
- travel to selectability sites will be required
- hold a current Child Safety and Personal History Screening (LCS2) standards clearance (mandatory)
- a current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland drivers licence
- a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (ability to obtain)
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You'
- hope and healing certificate
