About the role

As a supported independent living lifestyle support worker you will play a vital role in supporting our recipients to live their best life - empowering individuals to build confidence, work towards their goals and improve their mental wellbeing and connect with the community. 

You work one-on-one in the homes and communities of our recipients to support them to live as independently as possible. selectability are currently seeking individuals who would be interested in working in supported independent living, these roles offer a variety of shifts—including day, night, and weekends—providing flexibility to suit different lifestyles and commitments.

Balancing work and personal commitments can be a challenge, whether you are pursuing further education or caring for loved ones during the day, having the flexibility of working a night schedule can assist to support your lifestyle.

You may work with recipients in their homes to carry out activities like clean and organise, prepare healthy meals or maintain a yard and generally make positive choices.

About you

To be successful you must: 

  • be available for sleepover shifts and weekends to support the continuous 24/7 operations of the Supported Independent Living (SIL) house
  • possess clear and effective communication skills 
  • demonstrate computer literacy and accuracy in record management 
  • experience working in a team environment 
  • exhibit an ability to problem solve 
  • be able to follow policies and procedures at all times 
  • be able to work with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and individuals

Key responsibilities

  • a current minimum P1 "C" class Queensland drivers licence 
  • a currently registered, roadworthy, and fully comprehensive vehicle 
  • a current nationally recognised First Aid and CPR certificates (or the ability to obtain)
  • a Positive Notice Working with Children (blue card) (or the ability to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or the ability to obtain)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module 'Quality, Safety & You'
