THE OPPORTUNITY:
Reporting to the Taxation Manager, this role will support the business and play a key role in mitigating tax risk and ensuring critical taxation processes for the Company are completed in accordance with all compliance requirements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and delivery of tax compliance workpapers and lodgements to meet Australian tax obligations, income tax, GST, fuel tax, FBT, royalties, withholding taxes, payroll tax and employee share scheme (ESS) reporting.
- Coordinate payment of tax liabilities and maintain accurate tax data and working papers.
- Collate accounting and business information inputs for Australian and Overseas tax obligations.
- Prepare tax effect accounting workpapers and calculations for the group entities, associated financial disclosure information and liaise with financial accountants to contribute to tax effect journals for consolidated financial statements.
- Assist in preparing and delivery of the group’s global transfer pricing obligations, including transfer pricing documentation, Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR), and intercompany transaction analysis.
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of the PLS tax transparency report and information.
- Prepare information and responses to external auditors and regulators on all tax related matters.
- Complete technical research and prepare associated position papers, memorandums, reports and tax advisory for the Management and Audit Committee on taxation matters.
- Oversee compliance with the Tax Governance and Control Framework including ongoing development of policies, processes and procedures within the Framework including assisting with control testing and documentation.
- Ongoing support and maintenance of the tax fixed asset register.
- Assist with identifying the impact of tax legislation on business transactions and operations of the global Group.
- Ensure tax awareness across the business and provide improvement strategies and ensuring tax systems and controls are maintained to support the tax reporting framework.
- Ad-hoc query support, analysis and project work as required.
This is a permanent full-time role based at our beautiful West Perth office, near the City West train station.
ABOUT YOU:
- Formal tertiary qualifications in Finance and Accounting
- A masters qualification in Taxation
- A CA or CPA qualification is highly regarded, as is an ATI or CTA qualification
- In-depth knowledge of Australian Taxation law and requirements
- At least 5+ years’ experience in a tax-related role, preferably in a multinational or the mining/resources sector or experience within Big 4 or Mid-Tier accounting firm.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to interact and engage with stakeholders across businesses
- Proven ability to analyse complex tax issues and provide strategic tax advice.
- Experience with documenting processes, providing an analysis and review of controls, ideally within an ASX listed environment
- ERP experience with Pronto is highly desirable
- Highly proficient at MS Excel
- Exposure to Brazilian tax law, or proficiency in Portuguese language is highly regarded
- Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws, IFRS tax accounting (AASB 112), and tax effect accounting
