THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Principal Financial Accountant, this role is responsible for preparing consolidated monthly management accounts including board papers, reporting and ASX compliant periodic Financial Reports, along with providing technical accounting support by identifying and analysing accounting data as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in preparing Annual and Interim Financial Reports in compliance with Accounting Standards, ASX reporting requirements, and emerging standards including ASRS 1 and ASRS 2
- Provide accounting and regulatory guidance in compliance with IFRS (and AASB) and local regulatory standards, including support in the preparation of technical accounting papers for the Audit and Risk Committee or for internal reporting purposes
- Prepare monthly journals and balance sheet reconciliations relating to technical accounting issues, including share-based payments, leases, tax effect accounting, rehabilitation provisions, impairment assessments, and investments in joint operations and associates
- Support coordination of the audit process and act as a point of contact with auditors
- Provide support to the Senior Corporate Accountant - Brazil on group consolidation and technical accounting matters as required
- Collaborate with the sustainability team to provide financial data for sustainability reporting and ensure consistency between sustainability disclosures and financial statements
- Collaborate with the tax team to align understanding of accounting and tax treatments, and assist with tax note disclosures for half-year and year-end reporting
- Assist in providing the Board and Senior Executives with consolidated financial results, including variance analysis commentary to support decision-making
- Act as a key contributor to the finance team
- Undertake ad-hoc project work as required
This is a permanent full-time role based at our beautiful West Perth office, near the City West Train station, with a working from home option of one-day per week.
ABOUT YOU
- CA/CPA qualification, with a degree in Accounting, Commerce or/and Finance essential
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in financial reporting and technical accounting, preferably in an ASX listed company, Big 4, or mid-tier accounting firm auditing ASX listed companies.
- Experience in preparing management reporting, Board papers and statutory ASX quarterly, half-year and full-year reporting
- Exposure to the mining industry or group consolidations and multi-entity reporting highly regarded
- Exposure to with complex technical accounting (impairments, share-based payments, rehabilitation provisions, leases)
- Audit coordination experience or strong interaction with external auditors
- Sound knowledge of accounting standards (AASB/IFRS)
- Experience preparing technical accounting papers/memos
- Proven ability to liaise effectively with C-Level Executives
- Self-driven approach and experience in taking the initiative and making decisions
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, with a proven ability to interact and engage with stakeholders across the business
- Excellent skills in MS Excel and Word and other accounting systems
- ERP experience – Pronto is desirable
- Strong interpersonal skills
