The opportunity

Reporting to the Process manager, this role will be responsible for providing specialist process engineering, technical, administrative, and leadership support in plant commissioning, ramp-up, and steady-state operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant performance.

This is a 12-month maximum term role which operates on a 8/6FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Provide specialist process engineering support across commissioning, start-up, ramp-up and steady-state operations of the Mid-Stream Demonstration Plant.
  • Monitor plant performance against operating targets, troubleshoot process and equipment issues, and implement corrective actions to improve stability, reliability and production outcomes.
  • Drive plant optimisation, debottlenecking and continuous improvement initiatives across pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical process areas.
  • Develop, review and maintain process documentation, procedures, control strategies, production reporting and commissioning records to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Support quality assurance, sampling systems, incident investigations, root cause analysis and Management of Change processes in line with site standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with operations, maintenance, vendors and contractors while coaching operational personnel and promoting a safe, collaborative and high-performing team culture.

 

About you

  • Tertiary qualified in Chemical, Metallurgical Engineering or a related discipline, with full working rights in Australia and a current WA C Class Driver’s Licence.
  • Significant experience in hydrometallurgical, pyrometallurgical or chemical conversion processes, ideally within lithium processing, fine chemicals or remote mining operations.
  • Strong technical understanding of processing techniques, unit operations, plant instrumentation, DCS/SCADA systems and downtime reporting tools.
  • A confident problem solver with strong analytical, data interpretation, attention to detail and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statutory safety and environmental requirements, with experience supporting safe systems of work, risk management and change management processes.
  • A collaborative leader who can work effectively with operations, maintenance, vendors and contractors while motivating teams to achieve plant performance outcomes.
