About the Role
Good Counsel College is seeking a School Officer (Learning Support) commencing in 2026 to join their Diverse Learning Team. The chosen candidate most hold Certificate IV in Education Support qualifications or higher, and will be required to provide efficient, high-quality support tailored to meet the unique learning needs of an individual student.
In this role, the School Officer (Learning Support) will work under the direction of the Diverse Learning Leader to provide efficient, high-quality support tailored to meet the unique learning needs of individual students, and assist teachers in fostering an inclusive learning environment.
The chosen candidate will be required to:
- Provide one–to-one or small group student support.
- Provide emotional care and support.
- Prepare curriculum resources/aides/materials as directed.
- Facilitate social skills and therapy-based programs.
- Under the direction of a teacher or the Diverse Learning Leader, support the implementation of learning goals as identified in the student’s Personal Learning Plan.
- Assist the student to stay on task in class and assist with modified work.
- Assist with communication between the student and teachers particularly the interpretation of instructions.
- Communicate with teachers about student progress and areas of need as they arise.
- Attend school excursions, activities and camps as required.
- Attend to student personal care needs (eg assist with toileting) as required.
- Assist with the college’s annual processes to support the NCCD data collection.
- Encourage students to develop a sense of responsibility towards their own education.
- Facilitate social interaction, promote independence and assist with students' personal organisation when required.
- Attend team meetings as required and support collegial learning by sharing learnings with colleagues.
- Undertake ongoing professional development to learn and apply new knowledge and skills that improve the educational outcomes of students.
- Hold a Working with Children Blue Card
- Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education
