Opportunity for an experienced Food Safety Manager to join our team in an established role on a 12-month contract to manage food safety across approximately 20 cafes & bars in 8 locations across Australia & New Zealand, and additionally support the monitoring of a of a number of medium risk stores that range packaged PHF in retail stores. The role is responsible for the monitoring of the day-to-day food safety activities, record keeping across the business and providing technical support to the business.

You’ll take ownership of:

  • Ensuring store teams understand our food safety obligations
  • Ensuring food safety standards are maintained to a high level
  • Ensuring store records are maintained in accordance with Food Safety Management Plan
  • Ensuring new staff receive comprehensive training, including the use of our electronic reporting tool
  • Conducting annual internal food safety & POS hygiene audits across high and medium risk stores in Australia & New Zealand and completing corrective actions
  • Managing the annual external Food Safety Management System audit
  • Ensuring food safety audit scores meet minimum benchmarks
  • Managing food recalls & incidents
  • Managing new food premise registrations & notifications
  • Managing the pest control program, ensuring work is completed at each site & invoices are authorised

The role will require occasional travel to sites across Australia & New Zealand (combination of day trips and overnight stays.)

You’ll bring:

  • A practical approach to meeting food safety standards in a dynamic travel retail environment
  • Lead Food Safety Auditor qualification or similar
  • 2-3 years’ experience in similar role; previous food & beverage operations experience will be well regarded 
  • Attention to detail
  • Confidence training teams in food safety and systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of national, state and local government regulations relating to food safety
  • Knowledge of industry best practice
  • High level of initiative and autonomy
  • Well-developed stakeholder management & communication skills

The role will suit someone with previous study in Food Science / Nutrition / similar field with 2-years’ post-grad experience. Ideally, you’ll bring frontline experience in a cafe or QSR environment.

The role is based in Sydney and candidates must have full working rights with the ability to travel to New Zealand.
