Join Our Team as a Strategic Leader in Buying

We're seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our team as Head of Buying. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for leading the buying function, developing and implementing purchasing strategies, and managing supplier relationships.Coming from a retail background you will be confident and experienced in multi-faceted categories, whilst being financially astute and having the ability to work with complex data to inform pivotal decisions.

About the Role

As Head of Buying, you will:

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business objectives
    Lead and manage a team of buyers, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities
  • Collaborate with all parts of the business to ensure alignment and effective communication.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and prices to achieve best value
  • Implement and lead effective supplier management processes using initiative to pivot and change processes to ensure efficiency
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform purchasing decisions
  • Manage and control budgets, ensuring purchasing decisions are made within agreed financial parameters
  • Identify and mitigate risk associated with product life cycle.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a senior buying or procurement role, within travel retail or similar retail industry
    Strong commercial focus, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders
    Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex data and make informed decisions
  • Proven ability to work across cross functional teams, with direct and indirect reports.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage your team, providing guidance, coaching and development opportunities.
  • Exceptional communication skills across a broad range of leadership levels.
    Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field, such as business, commerce, or supply chain management
