Reporting to the Director Technology Strategy and Architecture, NHVR is looking for a seasoned and experienced Portfolio Office Manager who will manage and optimise the IT project portfolio with a strong emphasis on investment management, appropriate governance, transparent reporting, scheduling, and benefits realisation.

Working collaboratively with the Strategic Delivery Office, this role oversees a large and complex portfolio of projects to deliver measurable business value, whilst ensuring prudent and effective management of Data & Technology finances in partnership with the CTO, Directors and Finance division.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Manage prioritisation and transparent reporting of Data and Technology (D&T) projects in alignment with strategic budgets and outcome value. 
  • Establish and drive a dynamic portfolio management approach, with controlled fund releases, traceability of approvals and benefit commitments.
  • Working in partnership with the Strategic Delivery Office, influence the establishment of standardised practices and methods for delivery of D&T projects.
  • Produce high-quality reports for executive management, presenting insights and recommendations to enhance D&T portfolio outcomes.
  • Lead the planning, scheduling, and coordination of portfolio activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and within resource constraints
  • Monitor dependencies across the D&T portfolio and project timelines, assess potential bottlenecks, and implement strategies to maintain schedule fidelity in partnership with Sponsors and Project Managers.
  • Develop a benefits realisation strategy to ensure projects deliver anticipated business outcomes
  • Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders to drive alignment and support for portfolio initiatives, particularly where intervention on underperforming projects may be required
  • Provide comprehensive, pro-active services and reporting to enable the D&T leadership team in the management of the division’s finances in partnership with the Finance team.

About You

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in IT portfolio management which will be supported by a Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Advanced certifications such as PMP or MoP is highly desirable.
  • Be highly competent in building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration
  • Have proven capability in management of financial aspects of portfolio and project management, including budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
  • Be skilled in definition of Benefits frameworks and management, ensuring that projects deliver anticipated benefits and value

Your strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities with a track record of successful delivery and benefits realisation, excellent leadership and communication skills will enable you to add genuine value in the role.  In addition, stakeholder management skills proven in a complex regulated environment and proficiency in portfolio management tools and advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills will ensure you thrive in this role.
