The Director will coordinate and organize operations of the Library and Success Zone unit and maintain responsibility and accountability for services across the library and Zone locations. The director will manage digital records, provide leadership in ensuring information is managed in accordance with the established library policies, and ensures zone services are provided helping increase student success. HCTC has two libraries on the Hazard Campus and the Lees College Campus.

Job Duties:

Duties to include, but not be limited to:

  • Responsible for the library information literacy instruction program at all locations and online through the embedded librarian program through collaboration with college faculty, including working with dual credit instructors and the prison education program.
  • Responsible for college support, tutoring, workshops, and resources to help students succeed in college.
  • Participate in strategic planning, development, implementation, and providing Leadership for the unit.
  • Responsible for all financial duties of each campus library requesting funds through budget process, capital and current expense allocations, and any Perkins grant funding for the library and zone.
  • Supervise all Library faculty and staff and Success Zone tutors, provide necessary training.
  • Review /update Library/Success Zone webpages on college website.
  • Collecting, evaluating and reporting all library/zone service statistics.
  • Responsible for the library collection development program to support the curriculum.
  • Responsible for cataloging library materials for each campus.
  • Responsible for the interlibrary loan program.
  • Manage student and employee college identification card system.
  • Participates in college and system committees and teams including the KCTCS Library Peer Team meetings.
  • Participates in professional development activities and organizations to improve teaching skills and technical expertise including attendance at Federation of Kentucky Academic Libraries meetings.
  • Works collaboratively with the Retention Coordinator who oversees Student Success Coaches and Peer Mentors work in the Zone.
  • Works collaboratively with the Retention Coordinator to schedule appropriate hours for tutors and periodically review tutoring duties.
  • Additional duties will include committee work, and internal and external service.

 



Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in library science or library and information science from an ALA accredited program. Three to five years of experience in an academic library, or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position. Meet professional standards and ethics that are in accordance with state regulatory statutes and/or the American Library Association (ALA) standards.
