Job Summary

The primary purpose of the part time Financial Specialist III is to perform financial operation duties, including student account collections and student financials.

Job Duties:

1. Student Account Collections – Serve as the point of contact for students with past due balances. Create, organize, and maintain a recovery system of past due debt and initiate collection efforts. Research and problem solve past due student accounts. Early identify students that default on payment plans and outreach to students to resolve outstanding balance. Responsibilities include contacting and/or sending notices to students regarding past due balances, establishing and monitoring past due payment plans, and preparing accounts for collections.
2. Serve as liaison with contracted collection agencies concerning student accounts forwarded for collections.
3. Work with Dual Credit coordinator to send statement letters to dual credit and Early College students to resolve past due balances.
4. Work with Financial Aid to identify Return to Title IV students to begin outreach efforts to resolve balances, notate student accounts accordingly.
5. Miscellaneous financial duties, including answering student billing, payment, and refund questions; cashiering and fee payment responsibilities; posting and review of service indicators and miscellaneous charges; process bankruptcy information for student accounts; and assist with Student Batch Cancellation Purge Process for non-payment.
6. Other duties as assigned by Director of Financial Operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor degree and four years related work experience, or equivalent.
2. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills/soft skills.
3. Demonstrated attention to detail.
4. Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task in an open office environment and respond to issues and concerns that affect the department.
5. Discretion in handling high level, confidential materials related to the department.
6. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
7. Demonstrated excellent database and computer skills. Must have advanced Excel skills.
