Job Summary

Develops, coordinates, and implements a variety of complex administrative, supervisory and professional work in safety and security, public safety planning, and coordinating and directing the safety and security activities of GCTC to ensure compliance will all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and standards

Job Duties:

  • Plans, coordinates, directs, and evaluates a comprehensive program for security and public safety activities for GCTC. Develops policies and procedures to implement directives to comply with federal and state laws.
  • Attends training, conferences, and meetings to keep current on trends in public safety.
  • Tracks and logs safety or security-related incidents for each campus site and updates the Incidents Reports website as incidents occur; completes the annual Minger Report and the Clery Campus Crime Report; prepares other safety-related documents and reports as needed.
  • Manages physical access control and asset protection for campus locations including key controls, card access, database management and documentation. Coordinates and provides necessary response to surveillance cameras and related software for campus safety and security protection.
  • Manages all technology and software that is related to safety and security response including 2 way radios, surveillance cameras, access control, key controls etc.
  • Evaluates existing safety and disaster crisis management plans and works with GCTC committees, including Crisis Management Team, Crisis Communications Team, and behavioral intervention team, to develop response and recovery plans to address a wide variety of natural and man-made emergencies.
  • Evaluates disaster/emergency control methods and procedures; identify risk exposures relative to life safety and implement corrective action plans; update safety manuals and the crisis management plan as needed. Coordinates security and safety issues and programs with the appropriate public safety and first responding agencies in Northern KY.
  • Identifies relevant risks associated with activities on campus. Identifies and develops safety training programs for faculty, staff, and students; coordinates emergency preparedness drills, i.e., tornado, fire, earthquake, bomb threats, workplace violence/intruder, chemical spills, etc. Coordinates and oversees local compliance of environmental health and safety (EHS) programs and including monitoring training and working with local designated lab manager and system level EHS team.
  • Provides oversite and indirect supervision to contracted public safety personnel; Is available 24/7 for emergency calls and immediate action and/or deployment of the SNAP emergency notification system in conjunction with the IT staff.
  • Purchasing, invoice reconciliation and budget monitoring for safety and security. 
  • Monitor weather for college response; Immediate threat detection and response
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 6-8 years of experience
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • Experience with emergency management, fire safety, the military, or law enforcement.
  • Strong understanding of emergency management principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage leadership, employees, students, stakeholders and community partners as necessary.
  • Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or equivalent and 8 or more years experience
  • Previous experience in a community college setting

Additional Skills Requested:

  • Familiarization with State and Federal OSHA Standards
  • Experience with Conducting Safety Audits
  • Creation of Formal Inspection Reports
