Job Summary

Supports all aspects of day-to-day library operations, contributing to inviting library spaces and connecting our campus community with a variety of library resources and information. Meets varying questions and information needs with patience, openness, and a high standard of service.
Applicants should enjoy helping people and connecting people with information, be dependable, and have good attention to detail. Good computer and general technology skills are also necessary. May work at Newtown or Leestown campus library up to 20 h/w. May work evening hours.

Job Duties:

Patron Assistance:
1. Answers general library access, policy, circulation and reference questions for patrons in person, over the phone, and via chat. Assists patrons with access to library resources and instructs and supports in the use of library equipment.
2. Troubleshoots problems with computers, printers, and other technology including library loaner laptops.
3. Maintains coverage on circulation desk to ensure continuous service.
4. Checks library materials in and out. Perform routine technical aspects of circulation management in the Library Integrated System, Alma.
Collection and Space Maintenance:
1. Coordinates shelving to ensure items are available in a timely manner after being checked in.
2. Regularly assesses need for repairs, replacements, cleaning, and other upkeep and serves as point-of-contact for service and maintenance requests.
Student Assistant Support and Guidance:
1. Assists in oversight of student assistants
2. Monitors absenteeism and other disciplinary issues.
3. Monitors desk schedules, project schedules, deadlines, and other accountability systems for student assistants.
4. Assists with ongoing guidance with the student assistants to ensure quality service.
General Operations:
5. Ensures the timely fulfillment of general office duties, including refilling paper and other office supplies, sorting mail, and communicating messages.
6. Contacts service representatives and campus colleagues as needed for general operations.
7. Assists with the display and promotion of library resources and services, in-person and virtually. Develops content related to display and promotion of library resources and services.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree with 1 year of library or related experience.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Good computer and general technology skills with ability and interest in troubleshooting technologies.
