Job Summary
The Allied Health Department of Jefferson Community and Technical College has an opening for a Health Information Technology (HIT) Instructor and Medical Coding and Reimbursement Program Coordinator. The Health Information Technology (HIT) and Medical Coding and Reimbursement Program Coordinator is responsible for the leadership, administration, and ongoing development of both academic programs in accordance with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and industry demands.

Job Duties:
This position ensures program excellence by overseeing curriculum development, student advisement, student support, clinical partnerships, and regulatory compliance. The coordinator plays a critical role in fostering student success and workforce readiness in the fields of health information technology and medical coding. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include : • Provide academic and operational leadership for the Medical Coding and Reimbursement program, including strategic planning, scheduling, and continuous program improvement. • Ensure program compliance with institutional policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation requirements (e.g., CAHIIM, AHIMA, AAPC). • Lead the design, review, and assessment of curriculum and student learning outcomes to reflect current industry standards and employer expectations. • Advise and support students throughout the program, including admission, progression, retention, and graduation. • Maintain strong relationships with clinical and practicum sites, employers, and community partners to ensure relevant and quality experiential learning opportunities. • Monitor program metrics including enrollment, retention, graduation rates, certification pass rates, and job placement to inform program decisions. • Collaborate with the division dean, advisory board, and workforce partners to align the program with regional and national healthcare trends. • Facilitate and participate in student recruitment, marketing, and outreach efforts. • Manage program budgets, lab and instructional materials, and equipment procurement. • Teach courses within the HIT and/or Medical Coding and Reimbursement curriculum as assigned. • Maintain credentials and industry knowledge through ongoing professional development

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field (Master’s preferred). • RHIA or RHIT credential required • Minimum of three years of professional experience in health information management or medical coding. • Prior teaching or academic leadership experience in a college or postsecondary environment. • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills. • Proficiency with learning management systems, virtual platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
