Job Summary
The Division of Business, IT, and Professional Studies at Gateway Community & Technical College invites applications for a full-time Education Instructor position, beginning January 2026. We are seeking a dynamic and innovative educator to serve as both the program coordinator and primary instructor for the Associate in Applied Science in Education program.
In their faculty role, the instructor will teach core courses such as EDU 201 Introduction to American Education, EDU 204 Technology in the Classroom, EDP 202 Human Development and Learning, and EDP 203 Teaching Exceptional Learners in Regular Classrooms. Additional responsibilities include student advising, college and community service, and ongoing professional development.
As program coordinator, the successful candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of the program, track and report student learning outcomes, develop and implement annual planning goals, and lead a program advisory committee composed of education professionals.
**Applicants selected for an interview will be required to give a short (approximately 15 minutes) teaching demonstration on the topic to be determined prior to the interview.
10-month faculty contracts span the academic year, typically from August to May, with no course assignments during June and July. Although the contract covers 10 months, the salary is spread over 12 months, ensuring a consistent monthly salary. Benefits are provided year-round. Renewal of the contract depends on factors such as student enrollment and available funding.

Job Duties:
- Teach assigned Education courses.
- Collaborate with four-year partners to develop transfer pathways.
- Advise Education students through their associate degree journey and aid in transfer for a four-year Education program.
- Facilitate instruction using multiple modalities (in-person, hybrid, and online).
- Post and maintain office hours.
- Participate in the assessment of course and program student learning outcomes.
- Participate in the life of the college through internal service opportunities.
- Represent the college through external service opportunities in the community.
- Engage in ongoing professional development.
- Assume leadership roles where appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education with academic coursework in the following areas: (1) counseling, counseling psychology, and/or special education and (2) classroom technology
- Minimum two years’ work experience in the field (classroom teaching).
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, ability to work independently and adapt seamlessly to fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Skilled in engaging and supporting students from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word).

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education. Experience in school counseling and/or school leadership.
- Additional credentials and teaching experience in Early Childhood Education.
- Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (such as Blackboard, Canvas, etc.)
- Significant teaching experience, particularly at the college level
- Strong dedication to enhancing student learning and achievement
- Experience working with and understanding students from diverse backgrounds
- Experience in academic advising and supporting student success
- Previous experience in a community college setting
