Job Summary

Oversees day-to-day library operations across the physical spaces, including scheduling, opening and closing procedures, routine circulation activities, student-worker coordination, supplies, and space-use support. Provides functional coordination of student workers and part-time assistants while focusing on operational excellence rather than formal supervision of full-time personnel. Delivers excellent customer service, interprets policies, and maintains welcoming library environments.

Reports to the Library Director.

Job Duties:

  • Coordinates daily operations across library spaces, including opening/closing procedures, scheduling, supplies management, and space maintenance.

  • Coordinates student workers and part-time assistants, including recruitment support, onboarding, training, task assignment, and performance guidance.

  • Assists in overseeing circulation operations, including billing, borrower accounts, financial holds, and policy interpretation for equitable access.

  • Assists in maintaining physical collections and spaces, including shelving, shifting, shelf-reading, cleaning, signage, and presentation standards.

  • Provides front line customer service, including general reference assistance (in-person and virtual), policy interpretation, and user support.

  • Maintains library management system records and compiles operational data and reports as needed.

  • Troubleshoots equipment issues, manages inventory, and coordinates resolution with IT and library leadership.

  • Supports library projects and initiatives, collaborating with librarians on user-facing services and special assignments.

  • Collaborates with campus departments to ensure the library’s presence at campus public events.

  • Serves on college and/or system committees as assigned.

    Performs other related duties as assigned in support of the library and institutional priorities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in a library setting.

  • Knowledge of library systems as it relates to the circulation of materials.

  • Knowledge of bibliographic description and cataloging.

  • Strong customer service focus and skills and commitment to user-centered service.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience in a library setting.

  • Experience with Ex Libris systems, including Alma and Primo, in an academic library setting.

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Experience promoting or marketing library resources and services.

  • Experience coordinating student workers or part-time staff.
