Job Summary

The purpose of an Automotive Technology Instructor is to prepare students for successful careers in the automotive industry by providing high-quality technical instruction, hands-on training, and professional guidance.

Job Duties:

Provide classroom and laboratory instruction in automotive systems such as:

  • Engine repair and performance

  • Braking systems

  • Steering and suspension

  • Electrical and electronic systems

  • HVAC systems

  • Automatic and manual transmissions

  • Instruction should align with industry standards ( ASE guidelines) and current automotive technologies.



Ensure students gain practical, real-world experience through:

 

  • Shop-based lab activities

  • Diagnostic procedures

  • Use of industry standard tools and equipment

  • Safety practices and OSHA compliance



Prepare students for employment by:

  • Teaching professionalism, work ethic, and teamwork

  • Emphasizing customer service skills

  • Preparing students for ASE certification exams

  • Assisting with internships, co-ops, and job placement opportunities

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in Automotive Technology or related field AND 3 years related work experience AND appropriate current certifications/licenses required for the course.

OR

  • a minimum of 5 years work experience in the field AND appropriate current certifications/licenses required for the course.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASE Advanced Level Specialist certification
