Job Duties
The Department of English and Foreign Languages requests consideration for posting and filling a FT Non-tenured faculty member position on a temporary basis, for one year, to begin in Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 terms.
This position will serve a large student population at Norfolk State University and encompasses the teaching of General Education courses and discipline- specific courses that are supportable by faculty credentials.
Minimum Qualifications
1. The role requires office hours and engaging students for campus assessment
activities such as the HEIGHTEN Test and QEP.
3. Use of Blackboard, the Learning Management System for Norfolk State
University, is required.
4. This position will also require one submission, between Fall and Spring semesters,
of a small portfolio of supporting documents about classroom content and
techniques.
Additional Considerations
Preferred Requirements:
1. Ph.D. in English, English Studies, American Studies, or closely related field is
preferred.
2. Applicants are encouraged to submit a brief narrative regarding teaching
practices, their interest in teaching Public Speaking, and their interest in
using literature and innovative techniques for the composition classroom
