Job Duties

The Virginia Department of General Services Bureau of Facilities Management (BFM) is a customer-focused organization that provides high-quality surroundings for the roughly 75 state and legislative agencies located within the Capitol Square complex. BFM operates and maintains approximately 4.2 million square feet of space at the Capitol Complex and throughout the metropolitan Richmond area, including office buildings, the State Capitol, the Governor's Mansion, and monuments.

This position ensures the repair, maintenance & preventive maintenance tasks/guidelines are met with least disruption to building occupants. The Grounds Supervisor works in a multi-craft team environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid Virginia Drivers License
• Must be able to obtain Registered Technician Pesticide Applicator’s License within first 6 months of employment
• Considerable knowledge of various plant materials and turf
• Extensive knowledge in the mechanical use of landscape equipment
• Extensive experience in the landscape trade
• Snow and ice removal and cleanup experience
• Able to lift 50 lbs
• Available to work 24/7 in the event of weather emergencies (position is classified essential)
• Ability to supervise a diverse group of skilled and unskilled labor
• Experience in the maintenance of various landscape equipment

Additional Considerations

• Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License desired
• Supervisory experience desired
• Computer experience desired
• Experience working with an automated service work request system desired
