Job Duties
- The ability to receive and prioritize complaints.
- The demonstrated ability to use computers and monitor various alarm systems.
- Skilled in keyboarding, have a good command of the English language and the ability to use good discretion and sound judgment when handling a situation.
- Must demonstrate the ability to interpret policies and procedures.
- Position requires driving/operating a motor vehicle with a valid operator license.
- Render assistance to injured or ill persons. If necessary, transport to the University health center and/or to the local hospital.
- Request rescue services as required.
- Respond to fire alarms, locate fires and if necessary, evacuate building; extinguish fire, summon outside assistance, control pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
- Conduct walking patrols of all dormitories, contact with students and staff members who reside in the building to ensure that all safety regulations are enforced.
- Operate motor vehicles appropriately in patrolling duties.
- Proactively patrol the campus to ensure that all students residing off campus are afforded the same security and safety as those who reside on campus.
- Respond to all emergency calls for service when requested by sworn officers.
- Act independently and make independent decisions involving issues with a potentially serious impact on the University and/ or clients.
- Security Officers will conduct the annual DCJS Certification.
- Sheets Complete two safety programs per semester in their assigned Residential Hall. Security Officers are responsible for completing their payroll time sheets to ensure that they are accurate.
- Security Officers are required to familiarize themselves with all the Police Department Policy and Procedures
Minimum Qualifications
• Conduct security patrols of all University buildings and grounds.
• Check doors and windows to ensure they are secured, thereby preventing unauthorized entry.
• Observe and report all unsafe conditions, such as fire and structural hazards, lighting outages and security violations.
• Conduct money escorts from various University departments to and from the Bursar's office and ensure that all transactions between different agencies arrive safely.
• Perform regular tests of essential security systems, such as Emergency call boxes.
• Demonstrates knowledge through the enforcement of state, local and University regulations.
• Make written reports of all acts that violate the Student Code of Conduct, complaints, injured persons, and report suspicious circumstances in a timely manner.
