We aim to provide quality instructional practices and programs for each student to improve student performance.

The Yvonne B. Miller School is seeking a Carpentry Instructor who will provide quality educational programs through sound instruction to meet the individual needs of residents/students, as well as the standards defined under the Commonwealth’s statutes and program certification requirements. This role is a Post-Secondary Instructor and will be evaluated by the Post-Secondary Program Administrator, to include leave requests. The incumbent will collaborate and follow onsite directives from the Education Leadership Team including but not limited to the Managers, Division of Education Programmatic Directors, and School Superintendent.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must possess a high school diploma or Virginia Board of Education-approved high school equivalency credential. Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment to successfully perform the work. Ability to supervise students and youth, facilitate appropriate classroom management, and maintain accurate records. Must have a minimum of two years of successful experience at the journeyman level or an equivalent in the trade. Must hold or be eligible for Journeyman or Master Carpenter License and a Virginia Teaching License.

Additional Considerations

Experience teaching or working with at-risk youth is desired.
