About the Job:
The Yvonne B. Miller School is recruiting for a qualified Plumbing Technician Instructor. The Plumbing Technician Instructor will provide quality educational programs through sound instruction to meet the individual needs of residents/students, as well as the standards defined under the Commonwealth’s statutes and program certification requirements. The Plumbing Technician Instructor will provide instruction and engage students in a quality, competency-based program preparing students for entry-level employment and/or post-secondary education.

The Plumbing Technician Instructor reports directly to the Assistant Principal.

As a condition of employment, selected candidate must successfully complete the VA Department of Juvenile Justice's Basic Skills and Handle with Care training located in Hanover, Virginia.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment to successfully perform the work. Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License and plumbing credential.
Must possess a high school diploma or Virginia Board of Education-approved high school equivalency credential. Considerable work experience in plumbing. Ability to supervise students and youth, facilitate appropriate classroom management, and maintain accurate records.

Additional Considerations

Coursework from an acceptable post-secondary institution in a plumbing program and experience teaching or working with at-risk youth is preferred. Master Plumber, Journeyman Plumber, or NCCER Plumbing certification preferred.
