We aim to provide each student with quality instructional practices and programs to improve student performance.

The Yvonne D. Miller School, located at the Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center, is seeking a Curriculum Implementation Specialist. The main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to building teacher capacity and understanding of instructional practices, ensuring high-quality instruction in classrooms through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching and providing non-evaluative feedback to teachers, managing and evaluating the school's curriculum to ensure student academic success, integrating technology into instruction, providing quality educational programs through relevant educational research, and modeling continuous improvement and lifelong learning to meet the individual needs of students, as well as the standards defined under the Commonwealth's statutes and program certification requirements.

This position will play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between established curriculum standards and actual classroom practices. Working closely with teachers, the Curriculum Implementation Specialist is responsible for providing tailored support, guidance, and resources to help teachers with curriculum goals, design effective lesson plans, and implement engaging teaching strategies.

As a condition of employment, the selected individual(s) must successfully complete the Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice's Basic Skills and Handle with Care training located in Hanover, County and have the ability to obtain certifications in First-Aid and CPR.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify for this role, the selected candidate must have:

A demonstrated ability to implement policies and experience evaluating data, and arriving at sound decisions. Candidate must have demonstrated the ability to participate in collaborative decision-making for improved teaching and learning and knowledge in using student-level data to guide instructional decisions. Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise is required. The selected candidate will possess excellent organizational, analytical, oral, and written communication skills.

Additional Considerations

Endorsed and licensed in any specific teaching area. Successful teaching experience with a record of successfully impacting student achievement. Instructional coaching experience and administrative credentials. Must successfully complete VA Department of Juvenile Justice's Basic Skills and Handle with Care training. Ability to obtain certifications in First-Aid and CPR
