Job Duties

The position involves supporting the Montebello Fish Hatchery staff with daily operations, including the production and management of stockable trout. Responsibilities will include assisting with various tasks to ensure efficient hatchery operations and maintaining high-quality fisheries production standards.

Minimum Qualifications

Must maintain a valid driver's license in Virginia.
Knowledgeable in basic fish culture and trout husbandry techniques.
Capable of observing, documenting, and communicating fish behavior and health-related factors to supervisors.
Proactive and self-sufficient in following standard operating procedures for trout culture.
Ability to learn and remember stocking locations and proper fish distribution methods.
Understands water quality parameters relevant to trout culture and transportation to stocking sites.
Willingness to assist with various assignments across the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources as needed.
