Job Duties

Come join our team at the Department of Workforce Development and Advancement (DWDA)! In 2023, bipartisan legislation consolidated a dozen workforce development programs and data systems from various existing Commonwealth of Virginia agencies to create the Department of Workforce Development and Advancement (DWDA), known as Virginia Works. On July 1, 2024, Virginia Works stood up as an independent agency dedicated to creating, sustaining, and retaining a highly skilled workforce, and committed to making sure Virginia Works for everyone.

Works as an essential team member at the request of Registered Apprenticeship Consultants and sponsors. Participates in the developing, convening, planning and coordinating related technical instruction (RTI). Ensures that related technical instruction for registered apprenticeship is designed to enhance on-the-job training experiences provided by employers/sponsors in a given trade/occupation; appropriate for the trade/occupation and the work processes as defined on the Apprenticeship Agreement Form; appropriate for competency or hybrid occupations development; and provided as a credit bearing course when appropriate. Evaluates current training materials or source occupation-specific related technical instruction to support the Registered Apprenticeship model.

Minimum Qualifications

* Knowledge of adult training/educational methodologies to include curriculum development; planning, design and evaluation of training materials; and high-quality course content.

* Strong computer (word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, database, and communication packages), oral and written, and training skills.

* Ability to present in front of large and small groups; efficiently manage multiple customers and projects; implement the apprenticeship training method, related policies, and regulations; collect and analyze data; prepare reports;

* Conduct research, prepare and conduct training; use automated systems; and use on-line tools such as O*Net.

Additional Considerations

* Education, training, and/or experience related to education, industrial arts, curriculum development, or related field.

* Must have and maintain a valid driver's license; overnight travel is required in order to provide service in all areas of the state.

* Experience working with registered apprenticeship programs; experience using databases to track registrations.
