Job Duties

Join our unique program to employ former military medics and corpsmen in Virginia’s health system. Western State Hospital (V3 Certified) located in Staunton, VA. The Clinical Care Technician (CCT) candidates are eligible for sign-on bonus up to $7,500 (new to Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services).

The Clinical Care Technician (CCT) is responsible for direct patient care in a hospital setting. CCT’s will give medication in accordance with treatment plans and policy. CCT’s document and report errors via specific software and reporting mechanisms. Must be able to communicate in a written, verbal, and electronic manner that is open, factual, respectful, clear, concise, as well as addressed to the appropriate parties with the intention of effectively building positive interactions with others. CCT’s must be able to learn and effectively use the OneMind Electronic Health Record. A successful CCT at WSH will demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, assist in Milieu management, continue to advance their knowledge and education, work directly with patients and administer medication according to WSH guidelines 100% of the time.

Shift Differentials
1st shift weekend $3.00/hr.
2nd shift weekdays $2.50/hr., and weekend /holidays $3.00/hr.
3rd shift weekdays $2.25/hr., and weekend/holidays $3.00/hr.

Eligible candidates will be transitioning US military service members,
eligible for or on terminal leave, or other than dishonorably discharged veterans who served in the capacity of a medic, medical technician or corpsmen. Members of the US Guard and Reserve serving in the capacity of a medic, medical technician or corpsmen may also participate. Eligible candidates shall be evaluated and approved by MMAC following established guidelines prior to acceptance in program and referral to PHS. The eligible candidates shall have last applied the majority of the hands-on patient care skills as indicated in the MMAC GSOP no later than 12-months prior to MMAC application date.

A. For the purposes of this section, “military medical personnel” means an individual who has recently served as a medic in the United States Army, medical technician in the United States Air Force, or corpsman in the United States Navy or the United States Coast Guard and who was discharged or released from such service under conditions other than dishonorable.
