Job Duties
The Alexandria Health Department is seeking a fiscally responsible and financial savvy professional to join our local health district as the Fiscal Technician Senior. The incumbent independently processes deposits, vendor payments and refunds, performs monthly reconciliations, generates financial reports, administers grants, and prepares budget projections in two systems. Functions include serving in the role of the district’s subject matter expert in all actions associated with financial accounting and assisting in responses to internal and external state, federal and local audits.
Candidates for this position must be comfortable working with multiple funding sources in completely different budget, practice, and automated system environments.

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of accounting, fiscal, grants management, travel and procurement principles, policies and procedures.
• Working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping standards
• Skill and experience with Microsoft applications to include Excel, Access, Word and Google applications such as google docs and sheets
• Working knowledge and ability to use accounting and/or similar batch type systems
• Strong organizational, billing customer service and data entry skills
• Ability to prepare, file and reconcile data
• Experience processing vouchers
Additional Considerations
• Working knowledge of the Commonwealth Accounting System
• Knowledge and experience working with state accounting policies and procedures
• Experience with responding to federal, state, city, or county audits.
