Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Corrections seeks to hire a dynamic leader to serve as the Western Regional Operations Chief. Please note: This position is assigned to the Western Region; however, the successful candidate can expect reassignment to other regions based on agency business needs.
This position, reporting directly to the Chief of Corrections Operations, serves as an Operations Leader to ensure appropriate focus on management, administration, and operations for all functions and comprehensive integration of Community Corrections and Institutions. This position ensures safe and orderly operations of all district offices and facilities within the region.
Minimum Qualifications
Extensive working knowledge of the criminal justice system, treatment programs for inmates, facility security, inmate programs and classification. Considerable knowledge of modern corrections methods, policies and practices. Demonstrated leadership experience with excellent communication skills and adept in managing a diverse workforce. Experienced in high level decision-making, logic and analytic skills.
Additional Considerations
Advanced knowledge in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, public administration, business administration, management or a related field. Skilled in the use of Microsoft Outlook Programs. Participation in criminal justice associations and/or advanced related certifications. Working knowledge of departmental policies, operating practices, procedures and inmate programs.
