Job Duties

The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as a Supplemental Payment Analyst. The selected competitive candidate will provide exceptional delivery of services to the agency's Provider Rate Development Division.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Develop and implement healthcare supplemental payments and assessments, which include but are not limited to, Indirect Medical Education (IME), Graduate Medical Education (GME), supplemental payments for non-state government owned nursing facilities (NSGO NF), state government owned nursing facilities (SGO NF), physicians, Intermediate Care Facility – Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF-IID) assessments, and all directed payments.

Must complete accurate and timely calculation files, comprehensive analysis of calculations that includes the current file and prior period files, completion of add pay files, and uploads of the add pay file for payment processing.

This position is responsible for communicating with provider representatives, managed care organizations, and contractors to provide information and solicit feedback as appropriate.

Work with other divisions and departments within the agency to provide and obtain needed information related to supplemental payments and will keep management informed of issues that may arise along with recommendations on how to resolve the issues and special projects as needed by management.

Minimum Qualifications

Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:

Considerable experience in Finance, specific to analyzing data to draw conclusions and recommendations, and reporting.

Considerable work-related knowledge of non-claims provider payment methodologies used by government and private purchasers of health care services.

Considerable experience in developing processes and procedures for complex financial analysis.

Considerable ability to research issues and understand public policy analysis and interpretation, with specific focus on health policy and budget issues.

Considerable experience using Microsoft Excel for healthcare financial analysis, project management, and aggregating data.

Considerable experience interpreting and applying state and/or federal regulations to financial model development.

Considerable experience adhering to meeting stringent deadlines.

Considerable experience communicating with both, internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Considerations

Competitive candidates should meet these additional considerations:

Experience with Medicaid claims and/or Medicaid supplemental payments.

Experience with claims data or processing of claims data.
