Job Duties

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of POTW & Industrial Wastewater Treatment Compliance Coordinator. This position provides day to day technical and procedural guidance to the agency’s water permit inspection staff, tracks inspection activity, ensures agency consistency by auditing the regional inspection staff, develops and updates agency inspection forms and manuals, coordinates the e-DMR program, and develops and delivers training to regional inspection and e-DMR staff as needs dictate. This position also plays a large role in the eDMR program as the requirements of the EPA’s e-Reporting Rule continue to be developed and implemented at DEQ. This role is essential to the coordination of a consistent water compliance inspection program across all regions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Considerable working knowledge of and experience in sanitary engineering, operation and design of wastewater treatment facilities, pollution control processes, and wastewater testing procedures.
• Knowledge of biology and chemistry.
• Working knowledge of state and federal water pollution control laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of and experience with implementing and maintaining a compliance program to include stormwater, VPDES, and water withdrawal permits.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Additional Considerations

• Familiarity with the eDMR program.
