Job Duties
The Database/Web Administrator serves as a consultant, assisting with the review of
various databases and application servers, such as WebLogic, Apex, ORDS, and DB.
Works with VITA to perform application and database upgrades and to resolve
network, storage, and app server issues. Maintains regulatory audit documentation
and ensures vulnerability fixes with ISOs. Collaborates with small teams,
development, CM, QA, ISOs, and other staff to ensure the core functionalities are
performed. May work additional weekend hours to perform upgrades and patches to
maintain servers.
Minimum Qualifications
* Oracle DBA: Considerable experience administering Oracle databases in a Linux environment.
* Apex/ORDS Expertise: Solid experience managing and supporting Apex (preferably v19 or higher) and ORDS (preferably v18 or higher).
* Linux Administration: Strong understanding of Linux administration for supporting Oracle databases and application servers (WebLogic, Fusion Middleware, OHS, Reports).
* Scripting and Automation: Hands-on experience with shell scripting and job scheduling to automate tasks.
* WebLogic Management: Recent experience setting up, upgrading, and configuring WebLogic 12.2.1.3/12.2.1.4 and Oracle HTTP Server (OHS) 12.2.1.3 on Linux.
* Oracle Database Management (19c+): Extensive experience managing Oracle databases using multi-tenant architecture (CDB/PDB), backups/restores, PL/SQL, OEM, RMAN, Data Guard, and handling production environments.
* Apex and ORDS Deployment: Hands-on experience setting up Oracle Apex (v19+) and ORDS (v18+) on WebLogic, interfacing with OHS to deploy applications.
* Database Upgrades and Patching: Experience performing database upgrades and applying quarterly PSU patches using OEM provisioning tools/fleet maintenance (OEM 13c or higher).
* Data Loading: Expertise in loading data using SQL*Loader and Data Pump utilities.
* Performance Tuning: Expertise in Oracle database performance tuning and SQL optimization.
* Database Character Set Migration: Experience migrating database character sets.
* Enterprise Manager Management: Experience managing and upgrading Oracle Enterprise Manager (v13c or higher).
* Backup and Recovery: Strong experience in backing up and recovering large databases from RMAN online backups.
* Database Security: Working knowledge of tablespace encryption and advanced Oracle security tools.
* Development Tools: Proficiency with SQL Developer/TOAD, Grid Control tools (Designer experience desired).
Additional Considerations
* RESTful Web Services: Experience with RESTful web services.
* Cloud Experience: Proven understanding of cloud environments (OCI/AWS/Azure) and managing large-scale environments on cloud platforms.
* OCI Expertise: Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and migrating applications from on-premises to OCI.
* AWS Expertise: Strong experience building and managing Oracle Databases using AWS RDS. Knowledge of AWS cloud technologies (RDS, EC2, ELB, S3) with AWS certification preferred.
* Knowledge of printer configuration on application servers, experience customizing Apache FOP for PDF creation, and customizing Apex instances and workspace settings (all desirable).
* Demonstrated knowledge / training in Software applications, engineering, or equivalent experience.
