Job Duties
The Office of Licensure and Certification is seeking a Medical Facilities Inspector to Independently or as part of a team conducts inspections/surveys or reviews of health care facilities for the purpose of licensure and/or certification issuance, maintenance and/or renewal to ensure compliance with federal regulations and promotion of life safety code practices. Conducts complaint investigations; compiles and evaluates information in determining degree of compliance; communicates findings orally and in writing and recommends approval, denial, or revisions to health care provider's plan; recommends plan of correction to supervisor when provider is not in compliance. May serve as information resource to health care providers. Requires Travel.
Minimum Qualifications
• Registered Nurse (RN) License: Required for compliance with Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services guidelines for surveyors of home health and hospice agencies.
• Healthcare Systems Knowledge: Demonstrated specialized knowledge in healthcare systems, quality of care, and healthcare administration.
• Effective Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in a legally defensible manner.
• Independent Task Management: Proven capability to manage multiple assignments autonomously, including active listening, sharing relevant knowledge, maintaining professionalism, and following through on requests.
• Clinical Assessment Skills: Ability to independently assess individual patient/resident care plans and outcomes, as well as the overall quality of care and services provided in facilities.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Competency in interpreting and applying complex state and federal regulations relevant to findings.
• Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant computer applications necessary for data entry, report generation, and documentation.
Additional Considerations
• If working in LTC and/or Complaint unit, must obtain SMQT Certification within 12 months of hire date.
• All MFIs must obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) [Ref.2] regulations within 90 days of hire date and annually with the exception to Complaint Unit.
• MFI’s responsible for the survey of Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act labs must have earned a college degree as a clinical laboratory scientist
