Job Duties
This position is located at Fort Barfoot Maneuver Training Center (MTC) and will work with the Chief of DPTS. The primary position objective is to provide key managerial assistance to the Chief of DPTS in all aspects of day-to-day personnel and administrative management for the Department of Military Affairs State DPTS Civilian workforce; fostering a mission command environment conducive to open communications, empowerment, respect, and teamwork.
The incumbent of this position will serve as the civilian Deputy to the Chief of DPTS and provides continuity of effort to federal range operations managers. Responsible for ensuring all ranges, training areas, and firing points are utilized in a safe and efficient manner, to include approving scenarios for multiple weapons systems in combined arms live fire exercises and other high risk training events. Responsible for timely activation and coordination of emergency, fire, and MEDEVAC requirements in the training areas. Responsible for tracking and coordinating adequate maintenance on all assigned ranges, firing points, and observation points. Responsible for assisting with the development of range and maneuver area training facilities and sites. Responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of directorate policies, regulations, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Performs direct supervision of Range Operations state employees and acts as Range Operations shift supervisor as needed. Responsible for overseeing security procedures for the installation and liaison with assigned security personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
Previous supervisory experience required;
Ability to independently determine resource requirements, priorities of work, and execute tasks with minimal oversight;
Ability to make independent decisions in unique circumstances by applying previously known information to reach a correct decision;
Knowledge of Army training and weapons/munitions safety regulations, requirements, and procedures;
Knowledge of cartography, map reading, and use of a GPS;
Knowledge of military systems of record such as, but not limited to: Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS), Range Managers Toolkit (RMTK), Range Complex Master Plan (RCMP), Installation Status Report (ISR), Army range requirements model (ARRM), and Planning Resource for Infrastructure Development and Evaluation (PRIDE);
Must be able to travel, occasionally overnight;
Ability to operate basic radio communications equipment and a telephone;
Ability to operate a computer and basic office computer software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
Must have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Additional Considerations
Level II Range Safety Officer Certification preferred;
Active SECRET clearance preferred.
