The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Manager. The selected competitive candidate will provide exceptional delivery of services to the agency’s Health Care Services Division.

The chief objective of the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Manager is to enhance the health and well-being of mothers and children by
strategically overseeing a diverse array of programs and services and advancing health outcomes for Virginia Medicaid beneficiaries.

The MCH Manager provides essential leadership and oversight, ensuring that staff performance is optimized, and that maternal and child health programs effectively achieve their goals.

By aligning program and operational efforts with agency and quality strategic goals, the MCH Manager maximizes the impact of health initiatives and drives improvements in maternal and child health services.

Minimum Qualifications

Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:

Considerable working knowledge and experience with maternal health and child health populations or similar groups, programs and operations to support the delivery of health care services to children and women in a predominantly managed care environment.

Considerable experience researching, collecting, and analyzing data to help devise strategies for the programmatic and operational outcomes.

Considerable experience in developing and implementing a maternal and child health strategy in a health care environment.

Considerable and comprehensive knowledge of and the ability to plan, organize and lead work groups to ensure development, implementation, and maintenance of programs and operations within a matrix environment.

Considerable experience managing diverse professional staff, including in a telework environment and experience and knowledge of leadership and management principles.

Considerable experience utilizing MS Office products.

Considerable experience in the interpretation and application of federal, state laws/regulations.

Considerable experience meeting deadlines.

Considerable experience with communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the business.

Additional Considerations

Competitive candidates should meet these preferred qualifications:

Knowledge of managed care health plan operations, maternal and child health programs and policy administration, including knowledge of child welfare in Virginia.
