For more than three decades, the Virginia Lottery has worked to build a strong reputation, one synonymous with providing fun, entertaining experiences and doing so responsibly and with integrity. Proceeds from traditional Lottery games support K-12 public education in Virginia. Taxes generated by sports wagering and casino gaming, which are regulated by the Lottery, benefit other priorities of the Commonwealth.

The Virginia Lottery is currently seeking a Digital Engagement Coordinator to join our Marketing Department.

The Digital Engagement Coordinator will provide support in planning and executing the agency’s consumer relationship strategy. Being well-versed in all things digital, this role will be responsible for the oversight, planning, communication, collaboration, and execution of the day-to-day operations facilitating the Lottery’s digital engagement programs.

Collaborating with other teams in a highly agile environment, this position will ensure that the comprehensive needs of the Lottery are met to coordinate the planning, development, deployment, tracking, and optimization of email, SMS, push notifications, online promotions, loyalty offers, and other engagement efforts.

Responsibilities include:
• Daily monitoring and maintenance of all digital engagement and loyalty program efforts as well as providing support for and input on other omnichannel projects and initiatives.
• Working closely with internal teams and vendor partners on all digital platforms including the website, mobile app, online games, and future solutions to assist in developing outbound communications, promotional offers, and messaging to maintain positive relationships and retain customers.
• Collaborating across the organization to make certain that all details, documentation, and execution of engagement initiatives are coordinated and communicated throughout the business.
• Creating and managing digital campaign creation from initial planning to final deployment, including but not limited to design, copywriting, tagging and list segmentation.
• Assisting in developing testing strategies and implementation plans for campaigns and promotional activities based on customer insights, research, and past results.
• Continuously monitoring all digital engagement and promotional efforts, gathering data and metrics from internal resources as well as vendor partners. Assist in providing insights on promotion performance, recommendations, and lessons learned.
• Participating in the process of testing new games, promotion types, and rewards on various platforms prior to launch.

Note - This position requires in-office work three days per week including Tuesday and Wednesday.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited 4-year college with major studies in Marketing, Communication, Business, or related field preferred.
• 2 years of experience in digital marketing, customer engagement strategies, and vendor management.
• A solid level of knowledge and technical understanding across a wide range of digital disciplines including email, SMS, web, mobile, social, data management and analytics.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while working across departmental functions based on agile team needs.
• Innovative, collaborative, and process driven with exceptional attention to detail; editing and proofreading skills.
• Strong relationship building ability (internal and external).
• Terrific writing skills with the ability to craft compelling and engaging copy.
• Experience with execution of digital engagement tactics.
• Familiarity with digital engagement strategy, design, reporting, and analytics.
• Experience working with third-party vendors and agency partners.
• Direct experience with coordinating and executing email marketing campaigns and/or loyalty program campaigns is a plus.

A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Additional Considerations

• Course work and/or experience in digital engagement strategy and design.
• 1+ years of email marketing experience and/or loyalty marketing experience preferred.
• Design and HTML/CSS experience preferred.
• Practical experience in developing and executing digital testing strategies a plus.
• Database marketing knowledge and experience a plus.
• Lottery experience.
