Job Duties
• Provide direct clinical services to student, including individual, group, and crisis counseling
• Conduct clinical assessments and clinical intakes
• Document clinical case notes in an Electronic Health Record System (Titanium)
• Provide clinical supervision to clinical interns or residents working towards licensure, to include weekly supervision sessions on performance and learning
• Review and sign off on intern/resident case notes
• Develop, implement, and conduct outreach programming on mental health and high-risk behaviors to the campus community to include residence halls, classrooms, and various student organizations
• Consult and collaborate with campus stakeholders, faculty, staff, students, and parents
• Coordinate care with mental health facilities and other community resources
• Consult with students, parents, faculty, and administrators about campus life issues to enhance awareness and promote student retention
• Conduct risk assessments on students that may be experiencing mental health crisis that may need further evaluation for hospitalization
• Provide crisis on-call service in rotation with other clinical staff
• Conduct exit interviews with students and assess the quality of their experience at NSU
• Consult with external mental health providers when necessary to develop appropriate treatment plans for students
• Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the university
Minimum Qualifications
• A Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education with a concentration in mental health, counseling, psychology, social work, or human services.
• Must be licensed as a mental health professional in the Commonwealth of Virginia (LPC, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist) and approved by the licensing board to provide clinical supervision.
• Two (2) or more years of post-licensure related work experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of sexual assault, stalking, and domestic/interpersonal violence.
• Skilled in initial assessments, intakes, and case note documentation that are consistent with professional standards.
• Demonstrated ability to interface effectively, both verbally and in writing, and provide quality and professional customer service
Additional Considerations
• Two (2) years of working within a college or university counseling center.
• Familiarity with Titanium Electronic Health Record System
• Experience with crisis intervention
• Experience with public speaking and excellent written communication
• The ability to process, analyze, and interpret statistical data, be able to prepare clinical statistics, and provide assistance in the development, implementation, and evaluation of workshops, outreach, and trainings.
