The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is looking for a Human Resources (HR) Assistant for our busy Human Resources Office. The HR Assistant serves as a vital team member supporting the Shared Services, Talent Acquisition (TA), Compensation, and Employee Relations teams by managing several functions within HR.
The successful candidate will be professional and courteous, exceptionally well organized, able to handle multiple priorities, be a team player with a can-do and how-can-I-help attitude, be able to meet deadlines with limited supervision, and competently handle confidential information.

Responsibilities include:
• Serve as the front desk receptionist for the Human Resources Office
• Collecting mail for the HR office from the mailroom and answering phone calls and email inquiries
• Maintains all Human Resource Office files, including employee personnel files, employee benefits files, recruitment, and workers compensation files
• Producing onboarding packets for new employee orientation, assisting benefits consultants with tracking inquiries, and responding to basic requests
• Responsible for responding to VEC inquiries, coordinating with supervisors to provide appropriate responses the Virginia Employment Commission
• Tracking of annual employee evaluations and most recent Employee Work Profiles ensuring most recent form is in the employee personnel file
• Ordering and maintaining HR’s inventory of office supplies
This position works on-site, Monday-Friday.

Minimum Qualifications
• Experience providing customer service to both the public and employees in a courteous, professional, ethical, and friendly manner
• Experience interpreting and explaining policies, procedures, and processes
• Experience managing sensitive and confidential information and situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
• Experience working collaboratively within a team as well as other teams or departments within the business
• Experience creating and maintaining spreadsheets, databases, and manual/automated record keeping systems
• Comprehensive skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Strong organizational, time management, problem solving, and multitasking skills
• Advanced writing skills to create correspondence, memos, emails, and letters using correct grammar and punctuation
Additional Considerations
• Experience in administrative support to a Human Resources Office
