About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Personnel Analyst in our Human Resources Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will provide operational and program support to ensure data integrity and efficient functioning of employment and classification and compensation business processes; review Pay Action Worksheets for discrepancies and/or confirm sworn service and the corresponding pay area; reconcile and process transactions, physical and electronic paperwork for employee new hires, transfers, changes in job classification, salary increases, and other related human resource matters; prepare new employee files; organize, file, and track employee records, transactions and documentation; generate periodic human resource reports as requested; monitors the Human Resources file room to ensure all files are prepared and accessible; respond to verification of employment requests; monitor Payroll Services Bureau notification emails; reconcile and update monthly personnel transactions between human resource and retirement systems; and track and review year end performance evaluations and those employees on probationary status.

Minimum Qualifications

•Working knowledge of standard office practices; and of the Freedom of Information Act.
•Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications.
•Demonstrated ability to apply and interpret policies and procedures; to work independently and as part of a team; to review data and identify discrepancies between documents; to resolve numerical discrepancies; to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when communicating with individuals at all levels of the organization; to demonstrate significant attention to detail and perform work with a high degree of accuracy; to multi-task and prioritize daily activities; to work effectively with others both in the Human Resources Division and with external colleagues; to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, interpersonal and business process environment; and to follow written instructions and communicate effectively in English orally and in writing.
•Experience in Human Resources, Payroll, Business/Accounting or closely related functional area.
•Experience working with sensitive and confidential information.
•Intermediate skill level with Excel.
•Progressively responsible HR experience required.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Considerations

•Previous experience keying employee transactions in HCM Cardinal and Oracle eBusiness Suite (OEBS) is highly preferred.
