Job Duties
Directs a comprehensive food service program for a major institution. Supervises staff and inmates in food preparation and serving to ensure compliance with health and safety standards, and security regulations. Responsible for ordering and receiving food products, equipment and other supplies as needed while maintaining an accurate inventory system. Submits budget proposals and is responsible for authorized expenditures of allotted funds.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of food service management, sanitation practices and procedures. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Gmail. Skilled in the operation of food service equipment. Demonstrated ability to prepare nutritional meals. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels to include management, staff and inmates. High school diploma or equivalent. ServSafe Certification. Supervisory experience in a large volume food. Prefer working knowledge of Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) Food Service Operations, Policies and Procedures.
Additional Considerations
Certified Dietary Manager Certification. Associates degree in Food Science or related field. Food service experience working in a large correctional, educational, hospital or similar institutional environment. Working knowledge of VADOC Food Service Operations, Policies and Procedures.
