Job Duties

Virginia’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is looking for multiple service-oriented professionals to work as Customer Service Generalists in our Abingdon Customer Service Center. If you possess strong customer service and problem-solving skills, a willingness to learn, and want a career with growth opportunities, we would like to talk with you.

Job Duties Include:

  • Communicating policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Issuing IDs
  • Processing applications
  • Administering vision, driver, and in-car road tests
  • Processing diverse vehicle registrations, titling, tax and fee collection, and other DMV-related services

Minimum Qualifications

  • Customer service experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using a personal computer or other automated systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work M-F and Saturday.
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, and multitasking skills.
  • Must have attention to detail accuracy and complete assignments on time
  • Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid VA Driver’s License with a driving record that reflects a sense of responsibility for highway safety and concern for the law.
  • Driving records should have a point balance of less than six demerit points and no major convictions.
  • Experience working in a team or group environment.
  • Can lift 10 – 25 pounds
