Job Duties

Purpose of Position: To manage the reporting and accounting function of the fixed assets and grant and contract units. To provide oversight to the fixed asset and grants departments ensuring compliance with financial reporting requirements and management, grantors, and regulatory agencies in conformance with reporting standards of the AICPA and the Commonwealth of Virginia APA.

Minimum Qualifications

KSA’s and or Competencies required to successfully perform the work:
• Demonstrated ability to manage professional staff and fiscal unit
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
• Ability to interpret GAAP, OMB Uniform Guidance and Grant and Contract Agreements.
• Ability to work independently, possess effective oral and writing communication skills, and lead, instruct and supervise staff.
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial regulations and prepare financial reports and statements as required by the various reporting agencies.
• Pays attention to detail and is proficient with technology used in the financial operation
• Ability to interpret federal, state and local tax laws and regulations
• Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing

Additional Considerations

Education, Experience, and Licensure, Certification required for entry into position

• Degree in Accounting or related field
• Direct Grants Management Experience
• Advanced accounting experience supervising diverse accounting functions
• Experience with Fixed Asset Management including inventory


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in managing or overseeing fiscal processed at Higher Education University or Local Government
• Master’s Degree and/or CPA
• Previous supervisory experience
