Job Duties
VDOT’s Staunton District is seeking a highly qualified Business Supervisor to supervise a variety of business functions in the accounting department to include budget development and monitoring, financial and account management, records management, procurement, administrative activities or project tracking and reporting. As the qualified candidate you will:
• Collaborate with other IMS (Inventory Management System) managers to plan, develop, and monitor District office or Residency complex IMS inventory program adhering to purchasing requirements and IMS policies.
• Organize and maintain records for assigned program area per established retention schedules and policies.
• Provide supervision to staff to include work assignments, deadlines and feedback.
• Research and compile data and prepare reports or presentations for a variety of programs or projects.
• Manage day-to-day district business office accounts payable functions.
• Manage accounts receivables functions; monitor operational projects for accounts receivables.
• Investigate journal errors and ensure compliance in time and leave policies.
• Administer SPCC program.
• Prepare requisitions and purchase orders for material requirements.
• Ensure best practices are applied to work activities and comply with established policies, procedures and guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
• Supervisory experience to include leading projects, teams and directing the work of others.
• Ability to analyze, research, reconcile and evaluate data.
• Ability to interpret, apply policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively, to provide direction, training and guidance.
• Considerable knowledge of general accounting, auditing principles, procurement procedures, inventory management controls, and budget administration.
• Skill in the use of computers and web-based applications.
Additional Considerations
• Experience working with automated accounting systems.
• A combination of training, experience, or education in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting or related field desired.
• Administrative and supervisory experience.
