Job Duties
The Virginia Retirement System (VRS) is seeking a Technology Business Analyst to perform several key tasks that bridge the gap between business needs and technology solutions.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
• Elicits and documents business requirements through techniques such as interviews, workshops, and surveys.
• Analyzes current business processes and identifying areas for improvement or automation.
• Engages with stakeholders to understand their needs, provide updates, and manage expectations.
• Designs solutions that meet business needs and are feasible within the technical constraints.
• Analyzes data to provide insights and support decision-making processes.
• Creates detailed documentation of business requirements, functional specifications, and solution designs.
• Assists in the development of test plans and test cases, and validates the solutions meet the business requirements.
• Provides training and support to end-users to ensure the successful implementation of solutions.
• Assists project managers with planning, coordinating, and tracking project activities.
• Effectively performs additional tasks and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information technology or related field.
Five (5) years of progressive experience in data analysis, project management, business analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Considerations
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio. Working knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies. Working knowledge of Jira or similar issue tracking tool. Working knowledge of SQL query. Proficiency with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills and detail-oriented. Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening skills and the ability to successfully interact in a team environment. Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure. Critical thinker, who is comfortable in and embraces the unknown. Problem solver willing to dig deep for a positive outcome. Ability to work effectively and independently in a fast paced environment where priorities can rapidly change. The current hybrid schedule for technology employees is 3 days onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and 2 days remote (Monday and Friday). All employees must be able to work the current hybrid schedule and report to the office as needed on designated remote days.
