Job Duties:
The Vocational Training Department at Wilson Workforce and Rehabilitation Center seeks an External Training Options Instructor. This position will instruct persons with disabilities in trade-related skills needed to prepare them for occupational training, on-the-job training, post-secondary education, or employment; provide supervision of the instructional area, develop goals, evaluate progress, and initiate intervention strategies for each student; and serve as an instructor within the External Training Options occupational training area for the purpose of teaching students the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to a variety of different occupations. This position is designated to provide first aid, CPR, and AED only as collateral duty to routine work assignments, responding solely to injuries resulting from workplace incidents, generally at the location where the incident occurred, until emergency personnel arrive on the scene.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge of career and technology skills and competencies in the multiple industries, teaching methods and techniques, special education regulations, behavior modification techniques, employment adaptations and accommodations, disability characteristics, assessment techniques.
Skill in: classroom management, industrial design and development, communication, curriculum implementation, planning, and instruction.
Ability to: teach students with disabilities, work with others, make decisions, perform problem solving, work independently, obtain and maintain work-based learning sites with local businesses and employers, develop individualized educational plans
Additional Considerations:
Ability to obtain and maintain work-based learning sites with local businesses and employers. Endorsement in Career and Technical Education, adult education, or Special Education.
