Job Duties

This position is an excellent opportunity for a professional engineer with expertise in the field of wastewater management and onsite sewage systems to direct and supervises the agency wide Technical Services program in the Division of Onsite Water and Wastewater Services. This position manages a wide array of programs and task including providing engineering expertise for the development of agency regulations and policies; supervising the statewide environmental engineering program for onsite sewage systems and private wells including large onsite sewage system program; and review and approval of new onsite wastewater technologies. This position also oversees special engineering projects, including the agency staff conducting oversight of the Hampton Roads Sanitation District’s Sustainable Water Initiative for Tomorrow project.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Ability to pass a pre-appointment criminal record check and a background investigation.
2. Experience developing policies and procedures.
3. Experience interpreting laws and regulations.
4. Skilled in interacting with federal, state, and local governments and stakeholders.
5. Demonstrated knowledge applying sound technical engineering judgement.
6. Demonstrated knowledge managing multiple competing priorities.
