Primary Job Duties:

Performance Management
(for employees who supervise others) Examples of Measures for Performance Management:
• Expectations are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the department or unit;
• Staff receive frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate;
• Staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals;
• The requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation;
• Performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur.
• Safety issues are reviewed and communicated to assure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work related absences.

Cleaning Patient/ Administrative Areas • Perform a variety of cleaning tasks in assigned patient/administrative areas in a timely and successful manner, utilizing proper cleaning techniques and procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and safety regulations to include blood-borne pathogens and other related OSHA and EPA guidelines.
• Performs dust mopping/wet mopping daily applying proper cleaning techniques and proper use of germicidal chemicals and solutions.
• Utilizes industrial grade equipment to buff floors twice weekly following established procedures and ensuring safety at all times.
• Ensures proper measures to avoid spills and displays precautions/safety signs to protect patients, staff and visitors from injury.
• Inspects assigned work area personal hygiene products (paper towels, soap, etc) and replenishes as needed.
• Ensures cleaning agents/equipment is stored properly and securely and replenishes supplies as needed.

Supervision • Inspects assigned work area for specific cleaning needs and assigns cleaning duties to Housekeeping Workers.
• Provides daily supervision to Housekeeping Workers and ensures proper cleaning techniques and proper use of chemicals and solutions are utilized at all times.
• Provides training and guidance to Housekeeping Workers on cleaning techniques and the proper operation of cleaning equipment in accordance with established policy and procedure and safety regulations to include blood-borne pathogens and other related OSHA and EPA guidelines.
• Functions as crew leader ensuring Housekeeping Workers follow operational and safety procedures, responsible for exercising independent judgment in problem solving; referring non-routine issues to Housekeeping Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

Proficient in use of computer applications (word processing, database, etc.) and other office equipment. Knowledge and application of cleaning methods and chemicals; ability to write brief correspondence which reflect knowledge of spelling, grammar and composition, communication skills; manage multiple tasks. Demonstrates competencies as defined on attached form.

K. Safety All employees are responsible for ensuring patient safety in accordance with the National Patient Safety Goals. Safety risks include any activity or behavior that could be perceived as potentially harmful, such as, but not limited to suicide, aggression, homicide, falls and elopement. If a patient is in imminent danger, staff must remain with the patient until assistance can be provided. If there is a concern about a patient’s condition worsening, the charge nurse on the patient’s unit is the primary contact person to ask for immediate additional assistance.
• Reports unsafe work situations to the appropriate department/discipline.
• Follows guidelines of department/hospital policies that involve safety issues.
