***Hybrid Work Schedule: this position will work onsite three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and two days remotely (Monday and Friday).***
The Virginia Retirement System is seeking a talented M365 Solutions Architect to join our team. This role involves maintaining and administering the M365 platform and its associated applications. Overseeing the full lifecycle solution development, implementation, and maintenance using Microsoft 365 applications, Power Platform, SharePoint, Azure, and Copilot technologies. The Solution Architect works collaboratively with business users, fellow team members, managed services provider, and IT Security and Infrastructure team members in maintaining and supporting M365 platform and its components.
Key responsibilities include:
• Architects, designs, develops, and maintains applications using the Power Platform, SharePoint online, M365 Copilot, and Azure services to automate and upgrade enterprise business processes.
• Designs scalable and robust application architectures that meet business requirements.
• Utilizes Dataverse for data management, storage, and integration across various applications and services.
• Develops and maintains best practices, principles, and standards for M365 platform and applications.
• Collaborates with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications.
• Creates and maintains comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and operational procedures.
• Develops and maintains M365 governance documentation.
• Manages M365 security, compliance, and governance. Ensures M365 platform settings and polices align with VRS Security Policies, Microsoft best practices, VITA Sec 530 and NITS 800-53 standards.
• Integrates M365 solutions with other enterprise systems and applications.
• Remains current on updates and new releases for M365 and related products and ensures compliance with license agreements.
• Designs and develops AI agents and bots and other relevant services.
• Develops and maintains enterprise dashboards and reports using Power BI.
• Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues related to M365 platform and related products.
• Provides technical support and mentorship to team members and colleagues.
• Performs other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or a closely related field.
Five (5) years’ experience in development and maintenance of Microsoft 365 platform and related products and Azure.
Power Platform Solution Architect or relevant intermediate to advanced certification required.
Additional Considerations
Demonstrated expertise and working knowledge in Power Automate, SharePoint Online, Teams, Copilot, Dataverse and Azure. Strong knowledge of AI and machine learning frameworks and technologies. Expertise in Dataverse for data management and integration. Strong understanding of M365 security, compliance, and governance. Experience with Azure services, including Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, and Azure SQL Database. Working knowledge of DevOps practices and tools, such as Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and version control systems (e.g., Git ). Experience with Software Development Methodologies - Waterfall, Agile (Scrum) and hybrid approaches.
