Job Duties

Assists Operations Officer with American Correctional Association (ACA) and Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) Standards as well as other Facility Name Correctional Center standards. Provides administrative support to the Operation's and/or Warden's office in the areas of compliance management, policy/procedure development, Inmate Grievance procedure. Serves as a liaison to the Attorney General's office. Assists the Operations Officer and/or Warden's office by researching and responding to inquiries from inmates, the general public and other Commonwealth of Virginia and Department of Corrections (DOC) employees on a variety of issues. Assists with local operating procedure (LOP) development process, assists with coordination of security and certification audits and accreditation, handling public and community relations functions, coordination of related variety of activities which may include coordinating attorney and media visits, transportation and inmate medical service issues and/or complaints, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Considerable knowledge of facility operations, American Correctional Association (ACA) and Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards and Department policy. Exceptional customer service, interpersonal and written communications skills. Demonstrated ability to evaluate organizational and programmatic compliance with a variety of administrative and operational policies and legal mandates. Demonstrated ability to supervise, plan and direct the work of others. Demonstrated ability to exercise judgement, to conduct research and to formulate articulate oral and written responses to inquiries.

Additional Considerations

Advanced knowledge in criminal justice, administration or a field related to the duties of this position or a combination of training and experience related to the position. Experience in administrative, security, treatment, and operations.
